15th May 2009 – Ground Floor Flat Fire in Aldershot:
Rescue services were called to a fire in a ground floor lounge. 4 breathing apparatus and 2 hose reels were used to extinguish the fire. 2 persons were rescued from a first floor bay window roof, having escaped from a third floor window. The occupants were alerted to the fire by their internal fire alarm operating. Approximately 19 fire fighters attended the scene.

12th May 2009 – Fatal House Fire in Acton:
A man has died following a fine in Whitehall Gardens, Acton. Brigade fire crews wearing breathing apparatus rescued the man from the 3 storey house but he was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor. Five other people left he building before the brigades arrival. The cause is being investigated.

14th May 2009 – Hendon Day Care Centre Fire:
Four fire engines and around 20 fire fighters were called to a blaze at the rear of the day care centre on Parson Street, hendon, in the early hours of the morning. The fire completely destroyed a gym and the fire spread to an adjacent properties swimming pool room.

7th May 2009 – Cheetham Hill Building Fire:
A three storey multi-occupancy building which was well alight met the fire fighters on arrival at the property. Over 70 fire fighters were at the incident, bringing it under control and preventing it from the spreading to the rest of the building.

6th May 2009:
Six fire engines and over 30 fire fighters were called to a blaze at a bock of flats on Harrington Square in Camden last night. Fifty people had to be evacuated by fire fighters after the wooden fascia on the front of the twentieth floor of the building caught fire.

5th May 2009:
Eight fire engines and over 40 fire fighters were called to a fire at a shop and flat in High Road, Wembley, in the early hours of Sunday morning. The basement and ground floor of the property were completely destroyed by the fire.

28th April 2009 – Flat Blaze:
Fire in a flat in Wells Park Road in Sydenham during the early hours. The 6 roomed first floor was left badly damaged. 4 Fire engines and over 20 fire fighters attended the incident.

27th April 2009 – Wolverhampton Flat Fire is suspected Arson:
The incident involved a fire on the ground floor of a three-storey block of flats. Two crews were sent to the bridge street scene. A male and female casualty received first aid treatment at the scene before the male casualty was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

23rd April 2009 – House Fire in Dagenham:
4 Fire engines and 20 fire fighters were called to a fire at a house in Ivyhouse Road in Dagenham. Part of the 2 storey building was damaged by the blaze and there was heavy smoke damage throughout the house.

20th April 2009 – Fire in Barking Flat:
4 Fire engines and 20 fire fighters were called to a fire in a flat in Margaret Bondfield Avenue in Barking. Part of the 6 roomed flat was damaged but no one was injured.

18th April 2009 – Fire in Ground Floor Flat:
1 male casualty suffering from severe smoke inhalation and 1 dog were both rescued. Crews used breathing apparatus sets to extinguish the fire. Positive pressure ventilation was used to clear smoke from the premises.

7th April 2009 – Landlord jailed for refusing to pay fines:
A buy to let landlord has been jailed for 12 months after refusing to pay £20,000 that he had been fined for various indiscretions. Christopher Mincham had been given a £16,000 fine for fly tipping on Hayling Island and a further £4,000 for renting out a property deemed to be a fire hazard. Mincham had been caught on camera in 2006 allegedly renting out flats which had been closed by the authorities. Two men had perished in a fire in his property on Hayling Island in 2004.

7th April 2009 – Oxfordshire Landlord to pay £3,840 to his former tenant:
Alamin Miah was ordered to pay the amount after investigators found he was renting out substandard accommodation to five or more tenants in London Road, Reading, between November 2007 and January 2008. The landlord admitted nine charges at the recent hearing including charges relating to general disrepair and lack of smoke alarms.

April 2009 – Landlord Prosecuted and Fined for Fire Safety neglect:
A Nottingham landlord has been ordered to pay more than £9,700 for a number of breaches of fire safety law following a fire at one of his flats. Simon Fields pleaded guilty to four charges relating to his tree-store house, which is divided into flats. The charges related to missing smoke detectors, fire doors leading to communal areas not being fitted with self closing devices, and a lack of emergency lighting on escape routes.

16th March 2009 – Block of Flats Fire:
Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Bramley Road, Southgate in the early hours of this morning. Half of the first floor was damaged and the whole of the roof was destroyed by the blaze.

6th February 2009 – Smoke alarms fitted just in time:
Smoke alarms fitted just two days ago by fire fighters were called into action when a fire broke out in Bedford Street South, Liverpool. Residents in the 2nd floor flat were alerted to a fire in their kitchen after the alarm sounded.

22nd Jan 2009 – Severe Fire In New-build Flats:
A recently constructed block of flats in Oldbury Road, Smethwick was today being salvaged by firefighters, after a severe fire broke out at shortly after 2 am. Six fire crews – from West Bromwich, Highgate, Woodgate Valley, Ladywood, Aston, Handsworth and Northfield fire stations – tackled the blaze, with 14 fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus using a main jet and three hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

16th March 2009 – Recent fire incident in block of flats:
Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Bramley Road, Southgate in the early hours of this morning. Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters attended a fire in a block of flats on Cromer Street, yesterday evening. The fire damaged a communal walkway on the 3rd floor of the building.

24th Jan 2009 – Fire in Block of Flats:
Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters were called to a fire in a block of flats on Churchill Gardens in Pimlico this afternoon. Part of the basement was damaged by the blaze and there was heavy smoke throughout the building. Around 30 people were evacuated from their flats by fire crews wearing breathing apparatus.

11th Jan 2009 – Fire in Block of Flats:
Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters were called to a fire in a block of flats on Mapledene Road this morning. The fire damaged part of the communal stairwell on the ground floor. Fire crews rescued five adults from the second floor and two children from the first floor.
